A Message From Our President

I want to wish everyone very happy holidays! 2017 has gone by far too quickly and it's been an amazing year. We've had some incredible successes including the wonderful Phoenix conference in the summer, the Human Rights Watch publication, the statement released by the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, a successful shift from the Orchid Connect forum to Facebook groups, and the initiative to restart the monthly newsletter! We also experienced some losses, including people we loved, and decisions and practices continuing that we all wish would stop. We continue our work to support, educate, and do outreach to foster healthy outcomes for adults, youth, children, and families in our community!

As we roll into 2018, we're excited by all the initiatives and projects we're working on. In addition to planning our summer conference in Chicago, which may well be the largest conference we've ever hosted, we are looking into expanding our volunteer opportunities with calls to action in our long term planning, major updates to our website and outreach programs, and more. We want to hear what else our members are looking for and getting you involved! Again, I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday and thanks to all of you for being part of this incredible community!

Remembering InterConnect's Founder

Sherri Groveman Morris On Monday, October 9, we learned of the passing of InterConnect ’s dear founder, Sherri Groveman Morris (1958-2023).  Sherri, an orchid legend, founded InterConnect in 1996 as the AISSG-US (Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group, US Chapter) and was also actively involved with the Intersex Society of North American (ISNA). At that time, InterConnect functioned as a small support group for women with AIS.  Over the last 27 years, InterConnect has grown into an organization that supports people with all intersex variations and gender identities, their families, friends, and allies.  Dr. Charmian Quigley, who knew Sherri from InterConnect 's founding, wrote this about Sherri:  "Passionate and compassionate, committed, courageous, dedicated, warm, honest, human, humorous, driven, bold, articulate, engaging, our surrogate mother and grandmother, the matriarch of our family tree; the architect of a support movement that has blossomed over 28 years
